FAQ

1.How will determining my color palette help me?
Many clients seek my insight because they are stuck in a style rut of wearing black, white, grey or navy most of the time. Understanding your seasonal color palette helps you select more diverse wardrobe options that complement your skin tone and draw out your natural beauty. It also opens up an array of colors that you can use in all areas of your life, from manicures to home décor.

2.How much time should I set aside for a color analysis?

Plan to set aside up to two hours for an in-person color analysis. If conducting your consultation virtually, plan for one hour since I complete much of the process prior to the call with provided photos.

3.Why do you use the 4-season approach to color analysis?
This is simply the best and most accurate approach to determining ideal color palettes. Based on feedback, the results have been life-altering for clients which proves its effectiveness. Over time, I have tested and adapted the 4-season approach with modern day style in mind, discovering unique blends of the seasonal palettes that work beautifully.

4.I live in black, and I’m afraid you might tell me black doesn’t suit me. Is this a possibility?
It’s a possibility, but black might also be within your ideal color palette. I encourage clients to relax and go into their color analysis with an open mind and willingness to try different colors. I focus on showing clients what they can wear – not what they shouldn’t wear – and if black is a personal preference, I will demonstrate how to incorporate it into your wardrobe.

5.Are women of color always winters?
Women of color are not always winters using my method. Different skin tones and eye colors for women of color often result in different color palettes.

6.Why can’t you tell me what season I am just by looking at me once?
Determining your seasonal color palette is a multi-step, scientific process. I could venture a guess from a quick look, but it likely won’t be accurate without following my tried and true strategic process that takes several factors into account.

7.Is an online tool as effective in determining my colors?
Online tools are not as effective due to so many variables that help determine an accurate outcome. A color analysis conducted by a person with expertise cannot be substituted by a computer or checking boxes that identify your characteristics and preferences. While I do offer virtual color analysis, that option only became available last year after exhaustive testing and assessment of my virtual process which still utilizes color drapes to determine color palettes. My unique 3-stage virtual process is nearly a replica of the in-person experience.

8.Will I need to touch base with you on a regular basis once I have my colors done?
It’s not required, but you might find it beneficial to touch base with me a few times each year if you plan to shop for new clothing for a new season. My method is designed to give you the tools and confidence to create looks for yourself, which often starts to happen before the session even ends. I will also provide a swatch booklet of your ideal colors, for you to have as a handy guide to support your journey.

9.Will getting a tan change my color palette?
A tan will not change your color palette. Your color palette will stay with you through seasons and with slightly-changing skin tone.

10.If I am older, will this process still work for me?
Of course! Regardless of age, a color analysis is among the rare fashion and beauty investments that only needs to be done once in your lifetime. Your preferences and style may change, but your colors will not.

11.Will you keep asking me to have my colors done every year?
No, my color analysis is a one-time investment in yourself.

12.I only wear black, white and grey. What can you do for me?
Clients who come to me with a predominantly black, white or grey wardrobe are common. I am committed to opening up a whole new world of color to you, introducing a palette of exciting color options that will significantly elevate your level of confidence.

13.Do you work with my existing colors?
Yes, I will help you work your favorite colors into your style with your new color palette. Just be open about your preferences, and the outcome will incorporate both.

14.Can I buy extra swatch booklets for my family and friends?
Absolutely! Many clients purchase extra swatch booklets to provide to friends and family for gift-giving holidays so they can select gifts with your new colors in mind. This is a great idea so you are not gifted clothing or accessories you won’t end up wearing.

15.Can I wear makeup during my color analysis?
It’s strongly recommended that you go makeup-free for your color analysis to ensure you get the best results with your natural complexion.

1.As part of your personal styling service, will I need to completely replace my wardrobe?
Not at all! Part of the process is to review your current wardrobe and pull options that reflect and support your style goals. I always find pieces that are keepers within your existing wardrobe.

2.How much do I need to spend on a wardrobe and am I committed to that as part of your personal styling service?
You will determine a budget, and I will stick to it. My goal is not to force a significant expenditure on new clothing, but to first find pieces within your existing wardrobe that work. The shopping experience is to supplement your options with new pieces, so you’re ready to dress to impress in any situation.

3.Are accessories and footwear part of your personal styling service?

Yes, my personal styling service includes insight on footwear and accessories of all types.

4.Is a color analysis included with your personal styling service since it’s related?
Color analysis and personal styling are two separate but complementary services. I do offer packages that include both. Just ask!

5.How much time should I set aside for a personal styling consultation?
The length of a personal styling consultation largely depends on the service and your time. It can range from a quick lunch hour consultation to a 2 to 4-hour in-depth session.

6.What if I don’t like what you buy?
Anything purchased that you don’t like can be returned, and I am meticulous about providing receipts. If conducting a virtual personal styling consultation, I will send options and you will decide what you would like to purchase

7.Can you tell me what styles I should be wearing, then I go shopping on my own?
Yes, although personal styling and capsule wardrobe are separate services. During your consultation, I will review styles that work best for you in terms of silhouette, and you can choose to either shop by yourself or join me for a shopping excursion and leverage my expertise in real time.

8.I don’t know what style I prefer. Should I know this before securing your services?
Not at all. Together, we will explore specific styles. A style development process is included in some of my packages. Take a look and contact me for details.

9.In quarantine, I wear sweatpants and rarely leave my home. Should I wait until post-quarantine to have this done?
My goal is to empower you to dress for yourself, and not for anyone or any event. If you’re thinking about a style consultation now, it’s the right time. These unprecedented times provide a unique opportunity to bring your hopes and dreams to life while you have extra time, and debut a fresh new look and mindset once you emerge from quarantine. While at home, you are likely still participating in Zoom meetings, so there’s no time like the present to start feeling better about yourself. Plus, sweatpants can be stylish too!

10.It’s too expensive right now. Can I delay this until after I’m in a better place financially?

Yes, but don’t hesitate to ask me about a payment plan so you don’t need to delay any longer. Simply email me to start the conversation. I want to see you begin your transformative journey now, versus putting it off indefinitely.

1.Why should I stage my home? Doesn’t the realtor make it look presentable?
A realtor may provide generic suggestions for decluttering and depersonalizing your home, but they will not stage it. A professional home stager will create a warm and inviting feeling for potential buyers. Your agent’s job is to get the home on the market and attract buyers, while a home stager will help you avoid leaving money on the table with a space that photographs impressively and gives an outstanding first impression. It’s been proven that taking a little more time to get your home show-ready results in quicker sales at higher prices. The investment in home staging pays for itself.

2.What is your process for staging a home virtually since that is typically done in-person?
I typically request information beforehand regarding the property, which I will review before a minimum 2-hour virtual walkthrough where I offer detailed suggestions to make the home show-ready. Following the virtual walk-through, you will decide if you would like me to handle any part of the process, or if you’re comfortable taking my advice and executing it on your own.

3.Can I have a color analysis done for my home?
Yes, that is highly-recommended! I conduct color analysis for homes, whether decorating a new home or preparing to sell it.

4.Can you work with what I have for furnishings and décor, or will I need to spend a lot of money?
My first priority is always to assess what you have to work with before researching local staging and furnishings companies that will incur rental fees. Often, staging your home is simply a matter of decluttering, depersonalizing and rearranging what you have.

5.What do I do with all the furnishings and décor you used to stage my home, after it sells?
Any furnishings and décor used that aren’t your own will be rentals and returned following the sale of your home.

6.I live with my family and need to sell. How can I get my place show-ready while occupied?
I specialize in owner-occupied homes versus vacant homes. Despite the house being filled with your possessions and furnishings, I will successfully transform it for selling.

7.My home already looks and feels homey. Does it really need to be staged?
I am sure your home does look and feel homey! But it’s also very personalized to your taste. Home staging creates a neutral space where any potential buyer can envision themselves living. Sometimes it takes a fresh pair of eyes to achieve that goal.

8.How much will this cost? I am already overwhelmed with the expense of moving.
I get it! I am a mother of two, as well as a dog mom. That’s why my first consultation is designed to give you all the tools needed to succeed and implement any changes on your own. I will not try to sell you my furniture. Most often, my initial consultation is all that is needed. In the end, my clients report back about how easy it made their move, as most of their things were packed and ready to go! It will save you time and money, with a solid return on your investment by selling above asking price. This usually covers the expense of the service when you get the highest asking price for your home.

9.I have kids, making it impossible for my house to look tidy. How do you work with all their clutter?
I can relate, and I love working with families. I will provide plenty of tips and tricks to help you get your family home decluttered and ready for potential buyers. My process will also help you prepare in advance for your big move.

10.What if I don’t like how you staged my home?
Your needs will be heard, and you will be involved in the process from start to finish. What I provide are my expert recommendations, along with reasonings for each of them. The final decisions are yours to make, and you can even choose to execute the plan on your own.

11.How much will this process increase the value of my home?
First and foremost, going through this process will help you sell your home quicker, avoiding extra mortgage payments and the dreaded price drop if there is no immediate interest. According to Investopedia, New York City-based home stager Sid Pinkerton points out that a home stager returns results much like a financial planner. A return on investment in the financial world is much like the return on investment of hiring an effective home stager.

12.Do you provide home staging advice that I can execute on my own?
Yes, that is what my initial process entails. I will provide customized advice that you can either have me implement, or you can take on the project yourself.

1.Do you offer a set styling corporate package for multiple remote employees from the same company?
Yes, please email me for more information.

1.Can I secure your services long term?
Yes, some clients have seasonal sessions with me, or book regular sessions to review and update their style with my help. Investors and realtors specifically work with me on a long-term basis for home styling projects.
